Celebrate Christmas 2018 in style at All Bar One by catching up with friends and loved ones. Bookatable recently invited me along this year to All Bar One in York to review their Festive Set Menu. The set menu includes three festive courses, a starter, a main and a dessert for £22.95 per person on Sunday – Tuesday or £24.95 per person on Wednesday – Saturday.
All Bar One
All Bar One is a stylish city bar, which is located within easy reach of Coney Street, The Shambles and York Minster. It’s the perfect place to catch up with friends, unwind after work with colleagues, or to just treat yourself over the festive period – because you deserve it. With a variety of wonderful food and drinks available, these are included on the lunch menus, set menus, in the cocktail making masterclasses and of course, there is a festive set menu.
Festive Cocktails – The Ice Queen
Absolut Raspberri vodka, raspberry purée, falernum (with a hint of almond), lime & cranberry juice.
There are a variety of festive cocktails available at All Bar One this Christmas, but when I saw The Ice Queen, I knew I had to try this one. I love the presentation of it, as it’s such a show-stopper cocktail. I quite like the quirkiness of pouring it yourself into the glass from the bauble. Other available cocktails on the festive cocktail menu are a Chocolate Orange Espresso Martini, a Candy Pink Fizz, a Winter Porn Star Martini and more.
3 Course Festive Set Menu
The three course festive menu includes a starter, main and a dessert. There is a decent selection to choose from on the menu for each course, which includes vegan and vegetarian options. For those who eat meat, there is a festive burger which sounds absolutely delicious but I personally decided to go with the salmon. You can add a glass of prosecco for as little as £3, which will be waiting for each person upon their arrival.
Duck Liver Parfait – Sloe gin & berry chutney with grilled rustic bread.
Kiel and I both chose the duck liver parfait as our starters, which was incredibly delicious and very flavoursome. The bread was warm so the butter melted into it. Although I didn’t quite photograph it how I wanted, the sloe gin and berry chutney was a beautiful red/deep pink colour.
Roast Turkey Breast – Apricot & cranberry stuffing, diced potatoes, shaved brussel sprouts, butternut squash and a rich dripping gravy.
For Kiel’s main, he opted for the roast turkey which I also tried and it melts in your mouth, honestly. The whole dish was packed full of delicious flavours and we liked that you can pour your own gravy.
Roast Fillet Of Salmon – Brussel sprout & spring onion mashed potato, samphire, shellfish and a Lobster & Prosecco sauce.
My main was the roast fillet of salmon which intrigued me as it came in a lobster and prosecco sauce. The sauce and mash were rich and incredibly tasty, which complimented the salmon and shellfish well.
Raspberry Sorbet & Berries – Blueberry compote and mint.
Kiel decided on the raspberry sorbet for his dessert, which was refreshing and light. The berries were fresh and all of it was presented beautifully on the plate.
Chocolate Truffle Torte – Bourbon vanilla ice-cream and zesty orange curd.
This was my choice of dessert because CHOCOLATE. We all know that orange flavours compliment chocolate well and I loved the slight crunch of the truffle.
All Bar One in York is located on New Street, in York city centre, which is just a 10 minute walk from York Railway Station. I’ve visited the York branch on a few occasions now and the service is always excellent – the staff are always attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is generally relaxed over lunch and throughout the day, then the bar will come to life and be buzzing on evenings and weekends. I would highly recommend visiting your local All Bar One for their festive set menu, whether you are in a small or larger group. The food and drinks were divine and we both really enjoyed our evening. Head over to Bookatable to check out which of your local restaurants have festive deals this Christmas.
